2024 High Ridge Pickleball

The past 3 years of pickleball at High Ridge have been a huge success, mirroring the tremendous growth in the sport across the country. Anyone can play pickleball at any time on the tennis courts at the club after you reserve a court. The tennis net is the pickleball net – It just needs to be lowered 2” (to 34”) by moving the strap in the center of the net to one side. The club has also purchased 6 pickleball paddles and pickleballs for use by members. These are located in the clubhouse.

Organized Pickleball Schedule

Adult Clinics and Round Robins

Mark your calendars. Similar to last year we will be doing pickleball on Sunday mornings and Tuesday and Friday evenings.

Sundays, starting 5/26/2024, we will be doing a variety of skills clinics from 9:00 to 10:00 am. The clinics will be for all levels – beginners, advanced beginners or intermediate. There may not be a clinic every weekend so watch for updates on the Team Reach app. Round robin play will start at 10:00 am. Clinics (and round robins) are for adults only (16 and up). Please sign up for the clinics and round robins on the TeamReach app.

Tuesday evenings there will be a round robin starting at 5 pm. After play there will be a BYOD (Bring Your Own Dinner). You don’t have to play to come to dinner. We had a great time last year grilling out. Please join us.
Please sign up for the round robins on the TeamReach app.

Fridays we will start round robin play at 5 pm. We are still tweaking the format but this will be for intermediate/advanced players (3.0 level and up) and may include some sort of ladder play. After play there will be a BYOD (Bring Your Own Dinner). You don’t have to play to come to dinner. We had a great time last year grilling out. Please join us. Please sign up for the round robins on the TeamReach app.

The Haltermanns (Bill and Dee Dee) and the Codys (Steve and Betina) will be organizing the clinics and round robins. If you are interested, please sign up ahead of time on TeamReach. If you have any questions, please post it or DM Bill Haltermann on TeamReach.

Pickleball Camp 2023

Adult Beginner Camp – June 23

A beginner camp will be held on Sunday June 23. For all of you who have never played pickleball before or have played only a handful of times, this camp will be a great way to learn or brush up on the fundamentals of pickleball. The camp will consist of 2 sessions: the first session from 12:30-1:30 will focus on basic strokes and how to use them. The second session from 2-3:30 will focus on the basic rules and strategies for playing games. The goal is to have everyone playing matches by the end of the camp. We have paddles for beginners to use. The camp instructors will be the Haltermanns (Bill and Dee Dee) and the Codys (Steve and Bertina). The camp is free for members and will be limited to 8 people so make sure you sign up early to secure a spot.

Intermediate Camp – June 30

We are once again bringing a certified pickleball coach to High Ridge to conduct a one-day intermediate level camp (3.0 and up rating). The coach is Bridget McGrew who did such a great job last year. She was the first woman in New York State to receive a professional teaching certificate for pickleball. She teaches year-round at many different venues around Kingston, NY including the Kingston YMCA. The camp will be limited to 8-10 people so make sure you sign up on TeamReach early to secure a spot. The camp is currently scheduled on Sunday, June 30. There will be 2 sessions – 1½ hours each in the morning and afternoon. We will provide more details when things are finalized.

Tournament – July 7

We are organizing a new tournament this year on Sunday July 7. We are not sure of the format yet. Details to follow.

Annual Picklepalooza Club Tournament – September 2

Last year the second annual Picklepalooza Club Tournament took place on Labor Day weekend. It was done in a round robin format open to all level of players. The champion the first year was Steve Cody. Last year the champion was Bill Haltermann. Who will claim the title this year? Prizes were given to winners and randomly to participants. We will do this again on Labor Day weekend – Sunday 9/2. Details to follow.

TeamReach App

We will be doing pickleball updates as well as sign-ups for events using a smartphone app called TeamReach. If you would like to get the app, download and how-to-use instructions will be posted on the club house bulletin board. We will be using the app to sign up for all pickleball activities including clinics, camps, Picklepalooza and other events.
